Jingle all the Way See Through Shaker Card

posted in: Blog, Jeni 0

Hello, I was working on some shaker cards for the Elegant Christmas Card class last month, and was inspired to make a decoration filled see through shaker with the beautiful Retro Ornaments stamp set by Avery Elle.  This see through shaker card can take a little planning but is easy to make.  If you have any questions please leave a comment.

Background Stamping

I trimmed a piece of mixed media to 11x14cm and stamped the baubles, stars and string of lights randomly around the card. Adding the stars from the stamp set to fill in any spaces.  Making sure that the sentiment ‘Jingle all the Way’ was in the top half.  I die cut the small postage stamp die from this piece.

See Through Shaker Window

I lined up the outside piece with the postage frame on a card base and traced the rectangle. Then cut this from the front of the card panel with scissors. Holding the card closed I adhered the inside panel to the inside of the card base.

Shaker Window

To create the shaker window I trimmed two 8x11cm page protectors, let my Fuse Tool heat up for up to ten minutes and fused three sides of the pocket. I added a mix of sequins and fused the open end closed. Then placed some wonder tape to the shaker pocket and adhered this to the card base. Added more wonder tape to the top part of the shaker pocket around the edge and some tape adhesive to the rest of the front panel and placed this to the card base.

Finishing The Card

To hold the postage frame I cut some wonder tape in half and used this to hold the frame onto the plastic shaker pocket, I used a glue pen to adhere another frame on top to add some dimension. I felt that the front of the card was missing something.  So I stamped another bauble and coloured it in with some pinks/reds Clean Colour Real Brush markers, and used the co-ordinating die to cut this out. I also die-cut another bauble just from cardstock to cover the adhesive that would be visible on the inside of the card.
