Flamin-go Together is a mid sized clear stamp set by Lawn Fawn. This is a great set for creating tropical greeting cards or even wedding invites. I wanted to make some peacock looking flamingos since I saw this stamp set. Right now, I have a rainbow obsession.
“OH THE PLACES WE’LL FLAMIN-GO”
I coloured on the watercolour stripes rubber stamp with Distress markers listed below. Spritzing with water from a spray bottle to get the colour moving and create a bold and colourful background and trimmed this piece to 12.5 x 9.5cm. I stamped 7 flamingos – 3 facing left and 4 facing right. Love using with my Zig Clean Colour markers to colour in my stamped images. The exact colours I used are listed below. Using the co-ordinating dies to die cut the flamingos and placed these on the striped panel to figure out placement and colour order. Then stamped the sentiment on the yellow strip.
Creating Own Sentiment
To create a custom sentiment I placed “Oh the places you’ll go” on the panel so I could get the “flaming-go” stamped in the right place. I covered the last part of the sentiment with washi tape to ink up my stamp, (don’t forget to remove the washi tape) and stamped “Oh the places” I stamped “we” next to this then covered the “You” with washi tape and inked up the “’ll” to complete the sentiment.
Filling in Space
I thought there was too much empty space, I stamped 7 hearts from the Flamin-go Together stamp set and did some simple colouring with the same colours as the flamingos and placed these around to fill any gaps. Added some black glaze pen to the flamingos beaks to add some shine.
To add some more dimension and contrast to this card I embossed a piece of black cardstock with the Dot Next Level Embossing Folder by WRMK and mounted the striped panel onto this.

“WE FLAMIN-GO TOGETHER”
One technique I still love right now is ink blending. Stamping the watercolour stripes with Versafine black ink onto Bristol card and left this to dry. Versafine is a pigment ink and takes a while to dry. I die cut a Cross stitched rectangle from watercolour card, and using a circular motion I blended Mustard Seed Distress ink onto the bottom half of the card, and Squeezed Lemonade Distress ink to the top of the card. Going back to Mustard Seed to get a nice soft blend between the colours. I spritzed this with a little water, and left the water to sit for 20 – 30 seconds and blotted this dry with a paper towel. Distress inks are re-active with water, leaving behind bleached out droplets.
For a bit more interest, I placed the Confetti stencil by Heidi Swapp over this panel and, using the ink blending tool pushed some Mustard Seed through the stars only. Stamping the 2 flamingos on Bristol card and coloured these with my Zig Clean Colour markers, then diecut these out with the co-ordinating dies. Then stamped the sentiment so it would be centered under the flamingos and mounted the panels together.
Specific Clean Colour markers for the Flamingos:
022 Carmine Red for the red flamingo and 025 Pink for the pink flamingo. The beaks are 026 Light Pink.
