10th Birthday Cake Card

posted in: Blog, Janet 0

Hi, I wanted to try the cake stamp from the new release from Avery Elle ‘Time to Party.  This is a great stamp set with all the numbers from 0 – 9 so you can create birthday cards for all the ages you need.  It is easy to change the colours and design so your cards are suitable for all age ranges!

I first cut a piece of Ranger Watercolour 4.25×5.5 cardstock. Using the Wilted Violet Distress Ink I ink blended all over the card panel and spritzed the panel with water droplets, then used a paper towel to blot dry.

Diecutting & Stamping

I cut a circle from a scallop die from my stash and inked all around the edge with the Wilted Violet distress ink.

Using the cake stamp from Avery Elle ‘Time to Party’ stamp set, I stamped this onto Neenah Solar White cardstock, using Kraft ink by My Favorite Things. For the ‘Happy’ I inked half of the stamp with Butter Bar and Tide Pool inks and for the ‘Birthday’ I inked half the stamp with Tide Pool and Kraft inks to give an ombre effect. I coloured in the cake stand, candles and frill using clean colour real brush markers. In the centre of the cake I stamped the number 10th between ’Happy’ and ‘Birthday (to read Happy 10th Birthday) with archival ink.

Making The Card

I used liquid glue to adhere the circle to the top centre of the front panel and using foam tape adhered the cake to the centre of the circle. This was then adhered to a card base.
