Brighten Your Day Gold Embossed Leaf Card

posted in: Blog, Jeni 0

Hi, we had a pop-up shop a couple weeks ago – which was quite busy and tiring so I relaxed and played with this new stamp set by Concord and 9th, some Distress Oxides and clear embossing powders. No plan or idea where this card design would go – I just wanted to play.

Embossing With Clear

I used a piece of scrap Bristol card and stamped the leaf stamp with Distress Oxides. The colours I used were Candied Apple and Fossilized Amber. I inked up my stamp and stamped onto the card, then covered the image with clear embossing powder and heat set until all the powder had melted and turned shiny.

Ink Smooshing

Using my beloved craft mat I smooshed down some Distress Inks to add some colour to the background. I used Mustard Seed and Wild Honey. Spritzing some clean water from the Distress Sprayer to get the colour moving. I dried the ink and pushed my card around the ink again to get some variations in the background. I heat set this panel until it was dry – being careful not to burn any of the embossed areas, then trimmed this panel to 6 x 14cm.

Using another new to The Little Paper Tree stamp set I stamped “Here’s a little” and “Happy” onto a piece of vellum and “to brighten your day” onto the other end of the vellum sheet. I used the Nuvo Classic Gold embossing powder and heat set the sentiments. Trimming these into two sentiment strips about 3 x 16cm. Then I added some tape to the back of the leaf panel and adhered the vellum sentiment strips to the top and bottom of the panel.

Finishing The Card

Before mounting this onto a card base, I took a piece of Neenah cardstock cut to 14 x 11cm and used a strip of Post It masking tape to create a border edge. On this edge, I smooshed Versamark embossing ink all over the edge and covered it with the same gold embossing powder. Repeating this for the bottom of the card panel. I adhered the leaf panel onto this piece and folded the sides of the vellum around to the back so I can glue these down too.
Then mounted this panel to a side folding card base made with Bazzill Marshmallow card, and my happy autumnal coloured embossed resist card is finished.

I hope you enjoyed this card tutorial and try this technique out yourself with these stamp sets. Finally, I have listed and linked to all the products in the shop.
