Hi it’s Janet, I wanted to make some cards for the sports person in your life so I used the football and rugby sports stamps from Bert & Gert. These stamp sets are great for boys (and girls) of all ages.
I trimmed a piece of green cardstock to 13.5 x 9.5cm and stamped the sentiment ‘Some people think football is a matter of life and death. I assure you, it’s much more serious than that by Bill Shankly’ from the Bert & Gert football stamp set in the top right hand corner using black archival ink.
In the bottom left I stamped the football pitch from the same football stamp set using black archival ink. This was then adhered to a Bazzill cardbase 14 x 11cm using tape runner.
For the cards below I used the Rugby stamp set by Bert & Gert.
Rugby Card 1
On a piece of mixed media card 8 x 11.5cm I stamped a rugby pitch near the top and placed the sentiment underneath with a further sentiment near the bottom of the panel using the sepia archival ink. I then cut this panel using a stitched rectangle die from Lawn Fawn. Next I cut a piece of green cardstock 9.5 x12.5 cm and die cut using a larger die from the same set.
I adhered the mixed media panel to the green panel with tape runner and then adhered both pieces to a bazzill card base 11 x 14cm.
Rugby Card 2
On a piece of mixed media card 11 x 14cm I used the sentiment ‘A Fantastic Union’ and stamped this all around the edge of the card in black archival ink. I used the sepia ink along all the edges to add a little colour to this card.
Near the top of the panel I die cut a plain oval using the Mixed Edge Ovals Layering Basic die set by Tonic, and I also used the sepia ink around the edge. On this die-cut piece I stamped the ‘rugby ball’ and in the centre of the rugby ball stamped the sentiment ‘In a league of your own’ in black archival ink. I used my precision press to get a good image.
Underneath this I used the sentiment ‘Footballers spend 90 minutes pretending to be hurt. Rugby players spend 80 minutes pretending not to be’ in black archival ink. I adhered the panel to the card base with tape runner and added foam tape to the cut out ‘rugby ball’ giving some dimension to this card.
This then finishes the three sports cards made today.
Which do you prefer? Do you have a favourite sport??
