Hi, I love creating scenes with dies and Distress inks and knew I had to use this cute girl and a sled full of presents on a Christmas card. The Heffy Doodle range of stamps are new to The Little Paper Tree.
I got all my diecutting done for the scene first. I diecut a snowy hill, and the Forest Border die twice from watercolour card. The Snowy Backdrops stamp set is great to create a sky full of snow and stars. I stamped in Versamark ink twice to cover the watercolour card and poured on white embossing powder. I tapped off the excess powder over a coffee filter and heat set the embossing powder until it had all melted and was smooth and shiny. I got out my Ranger craft mat, mini ink blending tools and Distress inks.
I started with Wilted Violet and added this colour more around the base where the hill will be to get a glow of purple. I then used Chipped Sapphire on the rest of the sky. I blended these two colours to get a seamless blend, then added some Black Soot at the top of the card to make a night sky. I spritzed some clean water, let the water droplets sit for 20 – 30 seconds then blotted dry. I also wiped any Distress inks from the embossed areas to make the white pop against the inked background.
On one piece of Forest Borders I added Ground Espresso Distress ink for the tree trunk, on the other piece I used Pine Needles so I could have green trees. I trimmed the green trees from the card, and used a tiny dot of glue to adhere them onto the brown tree trunks. The Jewel Picker really helped to pick up and place the trees. I adhered the sky background and the trees, and snowbank to a 11 x 14cm top folding card base.
I stamped the girl and sled from the Warm Hugs stamp set and the present from Elfish Antics stamp set with Memento ink onto Neenah Solar White card. I used the Nuvo Creative Pen alcohol markers to colour them in. (Click for the free colour swatch chart download). The colours I used are listed below with the product list.
I diecut out all my stamped images and added them to my card with liquid glue. Before adhering them down I added some details with a White gelly roll pen. Stripes, dots and a check pattern on the presents, and some highlights in the girls hair. I stacked the presents onto the sled and added the little girl. Placing two little scraps of card behind her head so everything is level.
For the sentiment, I stamped the words “Bouan Noue” with the Perfectly Penned stamp set by Concord and 9th onto a scrap of Neenah and trimmed this into a rectangle. I adhered this to my card, near the top right corner.
Do you think these Heffy Doodle stamp set are cute? Which is your favourite?
