Clean and Simple Christmas Card

Hello, I want to use the extra small stamps from the Christmas Cheer stamp set by Concord and 9th to create a simple Christmas card with embossing and Distress ink watercolouring.  The list of products I used are listed and linked to the shop below.  Let me know what you think of this card.  I think the Candied Apple was too strong a colour.  What Distress ink colour would you have used?Clean-And-Simple-Christmas-Card

Embossed Sentiment

On a piece of 11 x 14cm watercolour card I stamped the sentiment “Making Spirits Bright” with Versamark embossing ink and the small star stamp going across the card from the bottom left to the top right.  I poured on some Hero Arts embossing powder and heat set until all the embossing powder had melted and was smooth.  I stamped a few of the stars at a time and poured on the embossing powder as I went so I could see where I had already stamped.

Adding Colour

I taped this panel down to a board and used some Distress Inks to add the colour.  Smooshing Candied Apple and Abandoned Coral onto a palette (a piece of Neenah card inside an Avery Elle storage pocket) and used a size 8 watercolour brush and a clean pot of water to add the colour in a loose way.

I kept most of the Candied Apple to the embossed areas and tried to keep the colour lighter at the edges of the card – but I think the Candied Apple took over so there isn’t much colour variation.  And left this to air dry then trimmed it down to 9.5 x 12.5cm.

Diecutting & Finishing The Card

Die cut the largest Cross-stitched rectangle from a piece of watercolour card and push my Versamark ink pad over all four edges, to make a border.  Pouring on the same embossing powder and heat set.  I foam mounted the watercolour panel onto this embossed panel and added some clear sequins from a sequin shaker mix in two different sizes. The Jewel Picker is a great tool for picking up and placing sequins and beads.  I placed the sequins along the same line as the embossed stars and used the sequins to fill in some empty space.  Inside each sequin, I added a small ivory pearl gem from my stash.
