Happy Birthday Card for Boys

Hello, I admit I play favourites with my stamp sets.  I have some very much loved stamps and some that still look brand new.  So, I got out the Hello There stamp and die set by Crafters Companion to give this stamp set some love.  The stamp and dies in the Diamond Press sets are sized to fit in the Diamond Press die cutting machine. The full list of supplies that I used to create this card are listed and linked to The Little Paper Tree shop below.

Happy Birthday PlaneEmboss Resist

I’ve been using the emboss resist technique quite a lot lately, so on a piece of 10x14cm watercolour paper I stamped the airplane to create a background, with Versamark ink.  Poured on the white embossing powder, tapped off the excess powder and heat set.

Ink Blending

Since these planes are flying across the card I wanted to create a blue sky.  Using the ink blending tools and a non stick craft sheet I started at the top with Blueprint Sketch Distress ink, and at the bottom with Peacock Feathers Distress Ink at the bottom, overlapping the colour in the middle to get a soft seamless blend.  Distress Inks react with water.  I spritz some water from my Distress Sprayer and let the water sit for 20 – 30 seconds before blotting dry with a paper towel.

To make the white embossed areas shine, I rubbed off any Distress ink sitting on top of the embossing.  I adhered this onto a top folding card base made from Bazzill Marshmallow card.

Happy Birthday Plane

To add my sentiment, I trimmed a piece of white card to 9.5×3.5cm and cut an angled edge.  I die cut the words “happy” and “birthday” from Tags for All die by Avery Elle out of dark blue, blue card and white card.  I layered the white card between the blue die cuts for some dimension.  This also gives the sentiment some more interest when looked at from the side.  I used liquid glue to adhere the sentiment dies to the banner and adhered this to the card.

Do you have any stamp sets that don’t get much love?
