Hello, is anyone else tired of all this cold weather? I wanted to help spring along by using the Fresh Freesia stamp set by Altenew. Today is International Womens Day, so I thought I would share some feminine cards for friends, wives, grandmums, aunts, daughter or sisters.
I knew I wanted to die cut the flower, and since the stem can be difficult to line up, I lay the die down, and placed the stamp into the die space. The stamp will be inside the die so you can pick it up with your acrylic block. I stamped the freesia image with versafine black onyx ink, on to a Bristol Smooth panel, added clear embossing powder, tapped off the excess and heat set.
To colour the freesia stem I coloured a little green clean colour marker at the base of the leaves and along the stem, blending out the colour with a paint brush and water. I coloured the flowers (the one at the back) the same way with deep violet adding the colour at the centre of the flower and where any petals lay over one another. Then diecut with the matching die.
Finishing The Card
For the background I trimmed a piece of Neenah Desert Storm to 11x14cm. I lightly inked the edges with Ground Expresso Distress Ink and stamped the sentiment with black ink. This is a great stamp set to make simple cards that can be used with loads of sentiments .
