Lots of Friends One Layer Card

posted in: Blog, Jeni 0

Hi,  I was inspired to make a one layer card with lots of the cute critters from the Winter Woodland Wonders stamp set by Avery Elle.  There is also a coordinating video tutorial for this card which you can watch HERE.

Masking & Stamping

I created masks for all the critters and used an acrylic block to stamp all the images.  First I stamped the critters that I wanted to be at the very front first. Placed the mask down and stamped the next critter.  When all my stamping was done and all my masks are in place I can add some colour to the background.  Since I use Bristol card, I can use the Distress Oxides as they will glide and blend easily on this card.

Working on my Ranger craft mat and I covered the whole background with Peacock Feathers and added Seedless Preserves to the top third of the card.  I had to be careful around the masking to make sure that the blending tool wouldn’t move any of the masks.  Before I removed the masks I spritzed some water from the Distress Sprayer onto the background and blotted it dry with a paper towel.Hi, I just joined this team. I have been knitting since April 2016 and love it! I have been making little critters and Christmas decorations and just started making headbands and fingerless gloves this year, so decided to start an Etsy shop, Ellie Lane Crafts. I am still working on my shop and getting some more items listed.

Colouring The Critters

I used the Zig Clean Colour Real Brush markers to colour all the images.  The colours I used are listed on the video and will be with the supply list below.  However, I tried not to have the same colour of scarf next to each other.  These critters need some sparkle to this card so I ‘drew’ with the Crystal Glaze along the ground, their noses, hats and ears and poured on some Pure Sheen glitter.  I tap off the excess onto a piece of paper so I can easily funnel it back into the jar.  Then add some dots of Crystal Glaze to the sky to act as snowflakes and covered these with glitter too, and placed this aside to dry overnight then adhered it to a card base.

Lastly, because I spent a lot of time on this card, I place it in the stamp platform to stamp the sentiment. I don’t want to risk an unevenly stamped sentiment.

What do you think of this card?  Do you like the added glitter?
