Merry Christmas Clean & Simple Deer Card

Hello, I love making Clean and Simple cards – especially at Christmas time when time is limited and there are lots to get done. There was no plan when I started this card – just that I wanted to make some backgrounds with the Plaid stamp.

Background Stamp

I placed the stamp on the clear side of the lid on my Tim Holtz Stamp Platform tool and used Ruby Red ink to get a tone on tone effect on some red card that I’d trimmed to 11 x 14cm.  This was the first time I’ve used this stamp so it still needs a little seasoning to get a good impression the first time.  I liked the distressed look I got so die cut from the top center of the card with a circle die.

Holding the card panel to a card base, I adhered the circle positive die cut flat to the card, and used foam tape to pop up the negative piece.  I already had this cute deer from the Winter Woodland Wonders stamp set coloured and cut out and thought it looked so cute on this background. With an Aqua Flow water brush and Zig markers I colour the deer in a neutral grey brown colour, and Green markers for the scarf.  Adding a small drop of Red Berry Nuvo drop for a red nose.

I created a banner strip from a scrap of card and stamped Merry Christmas onto it.  I adhered the deer’s legs flat to this sentiment strip, and the ends of the sentiment strip flat to the background, trimming off any overhang. Using foam tape behind all the bits that overlapped the positive circle so that everything would stay flat and secure. No squashed deer here.

Finishing The Card

To add some sparkle I added some Sparkling Star Confetti in both sizes going across the card from the bottom left to the top right.  I used little dots of liquid glue and the Jewel Picker tool.  This is quite a quick card to make – you can stamp, colour and cut out the deer (or whatever you want as your feature image) while you watch TV in the evenings or while you are stuck in traffic.
