Hi, it’s Jeni with an off the side tulle shaker Christmas card. I love making shaker cards and Sally from Making Cards magazine challenged me to make four different styles of shaker cards. You can see the four cards I created in the current issue of Making Cards magazine. I found that once I got started making shakers I couldn’t stop.
Front Of The Shaker
I trimmed some red card to 4.25 x 5.5″ and stamped the Plaid Background with Ruby Red ink. Stamping with a stamping tool so I could double stamp to get a good impression. I stamped the lines from the stamp set with same ink colour. From the right side, I diecut the largest heart die from the Stitched Heart Lawn Fawn set, making sure a part of the die was over the edge of the card. I will save this heart to use on another card.
See Through Shaker
I placed this red card with my card base, lined up the heart die and ran this through my die cutting machine – with the card base open.
Sentiment
To add a sentiment to this card, I stamped with Versamark embossing ink and poured on some Stamp N Bond powder. When this powder is heated it becomes sticky. As soon as it had melted I covered it with Silver Gilding Flakes and rubbed the excess off with my fingers. I went over the flakes with a dry blender brush to knock of the excess so the words would be readable.
Tulle Shaker Window
Cutting a piece of tulle material large enough to be folded in half and cover the heart diecut, I used strong Scor Tape to adhere the tulle to the back of the red card. I placed the silver reindeer confetti pieces from a Little Things sequin shaker mix and added more Scor tape to the tulle.
Folding the tulle so that the edge of the tulle was in line with the edge of the card and pushed the tulle into the tape to secure it. The reindeers antlers and hooves get caught in the tulle material so they don’t shake much but there is some movement with this being a see though shaker.
Finishing The Card
I adhered this flat to the card base with some more strong tape and added some more reindeer confetti pieces to the front of the card.
