Colour Outside The Lines by Jeni

Rainbows are my favourite colour! I wanted to make a card that used all the colours and something I little different from my normal style of cute critters or florals!  All the products I used are listed below and are available from the online shop. Let me know what your favourite colour is in the comments below.

I got out all the stamp sets that are in stock from Visible Image and decided the girl from Tomorrow Doesn’t Exist would be perfect for a bright and happy card.

I stamped the main shatter from the How Fragile stamp set with Versamark and stamped this three times around the background.  I covered this with Super Fine White embossing powder and heat set.  Then I had to decide where to place the girl. I wanted the sentiment to go down the left hand side so stamped the girl on the right hand side with Versafine Onyx black ink and used super fine clear embossing powder to capture all the details in this stamp set.  The clear embossing powder did melt into the white shatter lines – which just adds to the distressed grungy feel.

To add the colour I smooshed some Distress Oxide onto a clear piece of packaging, spritzed it with some water and took the packaging to my card.  I started with adding Abandoned Coral, Wild Honey and Fozzillised Amber and smooshed these 3 colours at the same time.  I used Lucky Clover, Mermaid Lagoon and Wilted Violet to complete the rainbow.  These last 3 colours went a little muddy so I blotted up some of the colour and went back with each colour separtely to add some more depth.  I left this to dry naturally while I worked on the sentiment.

I stamped the Creative People Colour Outside The Lines with Versafine ink and heat embossed with clear embossing powder.  Then I trimmed out each word leaving an uneven border and placed them on my card.  I needed to figure out where each word would go so I could add the correct colour to these pieces.  The ‘Creative’ is on the Abandoned Coral so is easy to do. The ‘People’ and ‘Colour’ will be going over the Wild Honey and Fozzillised Amber – but there isn’t all that much colour difference on the card. I left these to dry and then popped them up on foam tape following the silhouette of the girl to help them stand out.

As the final finishing touch I rounded all the four corners on this piece and my card base.
