Hi everyone, Claire here. I’m back again with my second blog post for The Little Paper Tree. While everyone else gets stuck into Christmas card making this time of year, it seems that there are more birthdays than ever amongst my family and friends, so that’s what I’ve been doing!
Colouring
The Avery Elle Peek-a-Boo Pals has to be one of the coolest stamp sets for children’s cards ever, they’re so fun! I started by stamped and colouring the monkey, the elephant and the sloth, and their corresponding “paws” with Copic markers. (the elephant’s party hat was a later addition, once I’d spotted a little space for it!)
Background
For the background, I used the beautiful Catherine Pooler Marching Leaves Stencil. I inked up a piece of card with Cracked Pistachio Distress Oxide ink, then applied Lucky Clover and Peacock Feathers through the stencil. I flicked on some water and let it dry, and then stuck the background to a light blue Hero Arts pre-folded card blank.
Diecut
I die-cut the largest Avery Elle wonky frame on white card, but then cut off the two longest sides to make the borders on the card. I’m always trying to find new ways to use my dies! And this made a nice place for the critters to rest their “paws”, which I attached with foam pads for dimension. I stamped my sentiment speech bubbles, and also attached these with foam pads.
The space at the bottom of the card would be a great place to add the birthday child’s name with some alphabet stamps.
