HAPPY WORDS using leftovers by Jeni

posted in: Blog, jeni 0

Hi, it’s Jeni with an extra blog post.  All those leaves I’d stamped and fussy cut out found a home on these two cards. You can see the card that these were left overs for HERE. I have listed all the products I used at the bottom of this post, with links to the shop. I hope you enjoy this card tutorial. If you have creative ways to use up your leftovers please share them over at the Facebook Treehouse Tribe group.

For the first card I stamped the sketchy leaf stamp from the Just Because stamp set with Peppermint Scrub and Mandarin Spice to keep in with the Autumnal feeling.  I randomly stamped with both colours going over the edge of the card so this would look like it was cut from a larger piece of patterned card. I used Catherine Pooler Premium White Card but Neenah Solar White would also be a good cardstock to use as they are both a bright white.

I lay the cutout black leaves over the panel to make a random pattern and once I was happy with the placement I adhered them with foam tape, and snipped off any overhang.  I needed somewhere for a sentiment so I diecut the rectangle die from the Just Because coordinating dies and stamped “Happy Birthday To You” from the Happy Words stamp set in Peppermint Scrub ink.

I used some washi behind to hold the small frame in place with the rectangle diecut. I placed this on my card and made light pencil marks on the patterned piece under the diecut – so they won’t be seen.  Because I have already added the leaves with foam tape I need to know where I can place foam tape.  I adhered the rectangle sentiment to the card and added this to a card base. For the finishing touches I added some copper and gold sequins from the 28 Lilac Lane Neutral Sequin tin.

I still had the coloured leaves so decided to go with Twilight ink to stamp pattern to help the bright Mandarin Spice, Spruce and Eucalyptus stand out.  These fussy cut leaves are foam mounted directly over a grey stamped leaf.  So when you look at the card from an angle you can see the grey stamped image beneath.  The sentiment is also from the Happy Words clear stamp set, stamped with Black Jack ink and added to the card the same way.
