Hi Beautiful by Alison

Hi, it’s Alison and it’s my turn on the blog today. I really love creating water colour backgrounds, then using stamps to add interest, before adding the focal element, so when I saw Avery Elle’s Indigo set I knew just what  I wanted to do with them.
First I cut a piece of Bristol Smooth Card to 5.5 x 3.5 inches. I then sprayed it lightly with water. Using a waterbrush and my Kuretake Gamsi watercolour paints, I dabbed small blobs of orange in the area I wanted. I allowed the paint to spread as it wanted. Spraying lightly to encourage some movement. When I was happy with the spread I mopped up the excess with kitchen towel, being careful not to remove too much colour. I then loaded my brush with paint and by gently tapping it I created splats around the area where I wanted them. I left this to dry.
Using my stamp platform I chose one of the floral elements from Honey Bee Stamps Hello Gorgeous set and stamped it with Catherine Pooler midnight ink and coloured it with my paints.
After ensuring my water colour background was dry I placed it in my stamping platform and rubbed over the surface with an anti-static bag and using versamark ink I stamped two of the stamps from the indigo set and sprinkled with gold embossing powder. I the used my heat gun to set the embossing powder.
To assemble the card I used a 6 x 4 card blank and using American Crafts smooth primaries in orangy yellow I created a mat that was 5.75 x 3.75 inches. After rounding the corners of the card blank and layers. I stuck everything down using tombow mono liquid glue. I then used foam pads to stick the floral element to the card. Finally I stamped the sentiment using Catherine Pooler Tiki Torch ink.
