Hi, I was playing with some Distress Oxides and decided to try to get a loose watercoloured effect with the inks. I love using the Many Mandala stamp set by Concord and 9th.
I placed the largest mandala stamp on lid of the stamp platform and inked up the stamp with Wilted Violet, and spritzed this lightly with water and closed the lid onto my watercolour card. Heat set to help it dry quicker and placed the card back in the platform. The guide that comes with the stamp set to line up my next stamp. I inked this up with Picked Raspberry Distress Oxide, spritzed it lightly with some water and closed the lid to stamp it. Lightly heating the ink between each layer with a hot heat gun to minimize warping. The third layer of the stamp was also stamped with Picked Raspberry Distress Oxide and the most inner stamp was Worn Lipstick Distress Oxide.
Making The Card
I trimmed the card so I could have the mandala at the top edge of the card. Adhering a strip of pink glitter card stock to the back of this piece. On another piece of watercolour card I stamped the “Happy Birthday” all along the card in a straight line. If you have problems stamping straight across like this with an acrylic block – a stamping platform would be a useful tool for you.
Foam mounting the mandala piece at the top of the card and foam mounted a small border of white watercolour card along the bottom below the sentiment. I like that this card has some added interest with the sentiment being recessed against the mandala stamped piece.
