Peek A Boo Pups Window Card by Laura *and Bonus card

Hello, my crafty friends! Today I’m so excited to share this fun window card featuring some super cute pups from My Favorite Things Puppy Kisses stamp set. I just love how all the different puppy dogs are peeking in through the circle window.

This card does have a few different components, but it came together fairly easily. I’ve got the full list of instructions (as well as links to the products used!) below, so read on to find out how I made this fun window card.

First thing I did was to stamp all of those sweet dogs with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink onto Neenah Solar White. Using Copic Sketch Markers (see list below for exact markers used), I colored all of them in using different brown and cool grey colorways. Then, I hand-cut them all out using my favorite Fiskar’s Micro Tip Scissors. To give them a bit more pop, I used a Sakura Glaze Jelly Roll Pen in black on all of their eyes, and some of their noses. Sometimes when you color with dark Copic markers, the original ink can get lost, so just a simple finishing touch is to go over some of those details with a black or white pen.

Next I used my Fiskar’s 12” Paper Trimmer to cut a 4.25” x 5.5” panel from a piece of Neenah Solar White. I played around with various sized circles from a nesting circle die set and the sentiment until I found the size that worked best, then I die cut the circle from the panel.

I cut a banner with Avery Elle Pierced Banner Layers Die from black card stock. Using Versamark, and white embossing powder, I heat embossed my favorite sentiment from the stamp set onto the banner.

For the background of the window cut-out, I used a lovely background design I’d created before (but never used) using Concord & 9th Plaid Background, Versafine Onyx Black, and Mustard Seed Distress Ink. See? This is why we crafters are hoarders…there’s always a use for something at some point!

On the window panel, I prepped the bottom half for heat embossing. To help the greeting stand out more, I used Versafine Onyx Black and clear embossing powder along with the ‘happy birthday’ sentiment from Concord & 9th’s Everyday Greeting Stamp.

Then I got out my Faber-Castell student grade watercolors and made some black ink splats all over the panel and set it aside to dry.

On a card base made from Neenah Solar White, I used Tombow Multi Mono Liquid to glue the plaid stamped panel to the front. Then I taped my puppy dogs on the inside of my window and used a bit of Tombow to glue the banner on the front of the circle. I cut a piece of acetate and adhered that to the backside of the circle. Last, I lined the back of the panel with 3M Foam Tape and adhered that to the front of the card base.

Puppy-Thank-You-Card

And that’s that card done. I loved that tail wagging sentiment so much that I made ‘thank you’ version to give to our dog minder while we were away on holidays. So that means I have a bonus card for you today! 😄 It was made using all of the same puppies and similar layout, but with a few minor tweaks.

For the circle panel, I stamped My Favorite Things Bold Diagonal Stripes using Mama Elephant Lemongrass Pigment Ink before I cut my circle out of it. You could also use a patterned paper, or any other background stamp design you like!

I got the ‘thank you’ sentiment from Concord & 9th’s Flower Turnabout Stamp and stamped that directly onto my card base using Versafine Onyx Black. I felt like the circle was still missing something though, so I took a piece of black card and prepped a large space for heat embossing. Using Lawn Fawn Snow Cool Stamps, I stamped the stamp all over the page with Versamark. Then I heat embossed with white embossing powder to create a polka dotted pattern.

I took two circle dies – one smaller and one bigger than the circle (from the window panel), spaced them evenly, taped them on the card (with the white dots) using 3M Post-It Tape, and ran it through my Cuttlebug to create a circle frame. I taped the black circle to the back of the window panel, then taped my dogs behind that. I didn’t use any acetate this time, so all that was left to do was add the foam tape to the back of the circle window panel and adhere to an A2 card base.

I used more foam tape to adhere the black banner with that super sweet sentiment and to finish it off, I added white dots using Nuvo Crystal Drops in Gloss White.

And we’re done! Thanks for sticking with me, and I’d love to see anything you’ve created using animals. You can share them in our Facebook group, The Little Paper Treehouse Tribe. I look forward to seeing you there!

Thanks for stopping by…and see Y’all next time! xo
