Stretch Your Stamps – Christmas Cards with Diamonds by Jeni

posted in: Blog, jeni 0

Hi, Jeni sneaking in again with another two Christmas cards. Today I am sharing how to use non Christmas stamp sets to make Christmas cards.  I had to borrow the Say It With Diamonds stamp set from Mom’s craft desk and decided to use some of the newer colours of CPD inks.

All the products I used are listed at the bottom of this post. Starting next year, we hope to sell our finished cards on Facebook and donate some of the proceeds to charity.  This will be done via the Ellie Lane Crafts page. (My gran’s name was Elaine and my nephew is named Layne so I played around and got Ellie Lane – I’m wondering if I can play around a bit more and get Milly in there somewhere). If you have any ideas please leave a comment.

I used purple tape to mask off the back of a card base so my stamping would only be on the front of the card. These are almost one layer cards so can be stamped directly onto a card base.

For the blue card I placed the stamp I wanted to use on an acrylic block and lined my card up with the lines on my craft mat to keep my stamping as straight as possible. I started with Sand Castle and stamped the leaf outline in a line across the card, then stamped in the gaps above and below with a solid stamp with Suede Shoes, then filled the rest of the pattern with Sand Castle ink.

For the red card I stamped the leaf design going at an angle with Sand Castle in the top ‘half’ of the card. Then stamped the ‘line’ below with a different stamp with Samba and finished the bottom with Sand Castle ink.

For the sentiments I lined up my stamps on my stamp platform to read “Have a merry and Bright Christmas” and stamped this twice onto white card.  I trimmed these smaller – to just the size of the sentiment and used foam tape to adhere them to the centre of the card.

And I have two more Christmas Cards finished. I need to start writing my cards and get them posted off! I can’t believe that my Christmas card making is almost over for another year – I love making anything Christmas.
