Tropical Spinner Card by Alison

Hi, it’s Alison and it’s my turn on the blog today. This month we have been challenged to make interactive cards, so I have made a spinner card using the Catherine Pooler Stamp of Approval box.

Stamping

I began by cutting a piece of Bristol Smooth Card into a 7.5 inch square using my Tim Holtz 8.5 trimmer. Placing this piece of card into my Tim Holtz stamp platform and placed the Catherine Pooler Mod Square stencil centrally on to it. Next I used magnets to hold the stencil in place, and with  a blending tool I apply Catherine Pooler Aquatini ink around the outside of the stencil, slowly blending Melon Ice, Lime Rickey and Garden Party inks through the rest of the stencil. This gives the impression of matt and layers. I trimmed a 3.5 inch circle out of the middle using my Tonic layering dies. Then I cut a 3 inch circle out of the middle of this circle, keeping the background and the 3 inch circle.

Sentiment

I cut a circle large enough for my chosen sentiment and blended Garden Party ink over it. Then used the smaller leaves from the Leave Me in Paradise stamp set to add detail to the circle using the same ink. Using my Tim Holtz stamp platform I stamped the sentiment using Catherine Pooler Grass Skirt ink pad.

Slider Element

Adhering the background square to an 8 inch square card blank using a double later is 3M Double Sided Foam Tape, making sure there was no take near the central aperture. Next I joined two 2p coins together with a small square of foam tape, ensuring it was well away from the coins edges.

Adding a double layer of tape to the back if the circle that I cut from the background. I carefully slotted the 2p coins into this then stuck this centrally in the aperture, and tested to see that these coins moved around the channel created by the background and the central circle. Next I added a small piece of foam tape to the sentiment circle and stick this to the top 2p.

Finishing The Card

Stamping some flowers and leaves from the Tropically Yours stamp set in a piece of Bristol Smooth Card using Catherine Pooler Lime Rickey, Party Dress and Tiara ink pads. I used my waterbrush to blend the Party Dress ink over the white areas of the flower. I fussy cut out and stuck flat to the card using Tombow Mono liquid glue.
