Magical Unicorn Birthday Cards by Jeni

Hi, its Jeni here with my first post of 2019. How is your year so far? I decided to make two special brithday cards using some Avery Elle stamps and dies.  My first idea with this stamp set was to make a super intricate spinner card. But I couldn’t get it to work correctly so that idea has gone into my ‘to be finished’ box.  These two cards also led to another idea that will be on YouTube shortly.  All the products I used will be listed at the bottom of this post and linked to the shop. Flying-Unicorn-Avery-Elle

Colouring

Firstly I stamp the unicorns with Memento ink on Neenah Solar White card, so I will be able do some copic colouring. My aim for this year is to improve my copic colouring.  I also stamped some clouds, but left these un-coloured as I don’t have many really light blues markers.  On one piece of Bristol smooth card I diecut a circle from the top centre – I will use the negative piece for the purple card and the positive circle on the green card.Avery-Elle-Unicorn-Purple

Ink Blending

For the above card, I use a cloud stencil to get the cloud shapes alternating and overlapping Milled Lavender and Tumbled Glass Distress Oxide to add some depth and dimension. I place all my stamped images on the card but though the front looked a bit dull and empty (where the sentiment is).

I use the same inks and cloud stencil to add some fluffy clouds, which also gives the bottom unicorn somewhere to stand – and will stop her from looking like she is floating in space.  The circle ink blended piece is attached to the front panel with foam tape. I add the flying unicorn and clouds with a double layer foam tape then adher the standing unicorn and sentiment strips flat to the card panel.

Adding Sparkling Stars

The green card is made with the same cloud stencil and Bundled Sage and Tumbled Glass Distress Oxides on the circle and on the card front.

I add the die cut circle with foam tape with the flying unicorn and the sentiment and pop up the standing unicorn with foam tape.

To finish the card I add A LOT of sparkling star confetti pieces.  The sentiments for both cards are from the Simple Sentiments Stamp Set.

Do you think I added too many stars on the green card?  Which is your favourite?
