Bold, Retro Birthday Card For Teens | with Tasha

Hey crafty people! It’s Tasha, and I’m back with some more Saturday Inspiration! Today I’m using part of Catherine Pooler’s latest release, along with some restocked goodies! I ordered 3 items in my latest mini haul, and I tasked myself with using all 3 for today’s design! I ended up with this bold, retro Birthday card, which I think would be perfect for teens!

Simple Background…

I used the brand new Sunburst Stripes Panel Die from Catherine Pooler’s April Showers Bring.. release, and I cut it from some Brutus Monroe Raven cardstock.

The die cuts out a panel of rays all coming from the lower left, but the rays all remain connected at that point. I snipped the 3 largest ones and glued the two outer ones under the edge of the largest ray. I added some scrap cardstock behind the middle ray so that once glued down it would be stable and supported.

The die cuts a 5×7 panel so once I glued the triple ray onto an a2 panel of Neenah 80lb, I trimmed the whole thing down to 5.25x4inch. This gives me a nice, white border around the edge once I put it onto an a2 card.

That’s it; my background is complete! I know, that was a really tough one! 😉

Bold, Retro Birthday Card…

I stamped the sitting dog and the present from the Special Delivery stamp set onto some more Neenah 80lb. I used Midnight CP ink for a nice bold black.
After leaving it to dry for a little bit, I did some SUPER simple Copic colouring.
I only used C00, C1 & C5 to add shading.
Then R17 for my Doggie’s glasses, the hearts on his sweater and the bow on my gift.

I don’t have a black Copic, so I just used my water based marker to colour the polka dots on the gift.
Fussy cutting these images was no hardship at all!!

Such a classic colour scheme; that little pop of red on an otherwise monochromatic design!

Happy Birthday!

I reached for Happy Birthday Many Ways, and stamped out one of the sentiments onto some red cardstock from my stash. This has to be one of my most used stamp sets, it is fabulous! I love all of the vastly different fonts all included because it means it will work for any type of design, no matter who it’s for!

I trimmed it down in my paper trimmer and I cut the end at an angle for an additional design feature.

Adhesive foam tape under this sentiment strips gives me some added dimension, and it also give my cute little pooch somewhere to sit with his present!

An a2 cardbase made from Neenah 110lb was all that I needed to complete the design!

That’s it!

I will be back at the normal time next week for more inspiration!
