Clean and Simple Floral Design with Tasha

Hey crafty people! It’s Tasha, here with your weekly dose of Saturday morning inspiration! This week I’m using the ‘Thankful For Friends‘ stamp set from Pinkfresh Studios to make this gorgeous clean and simple floral card; I just love this gorgeous image!

As with so many people, I am finding this new lockdown really quite tough; I have two daughters who are all but clawing the walls, (and even each other some days,) to get out and I have suddenly found myself needing to be a teacher for Primary School age children, all whilst shielding again due to my health. Some days, it honestly gets way too much, but that’s why I’m so very grateful to have this creative outlet, (and a craft room to hide in.) I don’t know how I would have coped over the last year without it.
Does anyone else feel like crafting keeps them sane? 😂🙈

Stamping My Panel

I started with an a2 panel of Neenah 80lb, incidentally, I purchase my Neenah cardstock in US Letter Size because I like to make US a2 cards and each full sheet of Neenah gives me four card panels. I always cut the cardstock down in advance so that I have a pile of them waiting for me, whenever I need one!

Anyhoo…I stamped the image with Memento Tuxedo Black ink, then I set it aside to dry for an hour or so whilst I worked on another project. I wanted to be sure that it was 100% dry before I started colouring it with my Copics.

Colouring The Image

I chose a three marker green blend and four marker purple blend. I used all four markers on the largest flower, but for the small flower I skipped the darkest marker and I only used the two lightest ones for the small bud. This just gives each flower a slightly different appearance, which makes the finished design look more natural.

Once I finished the colouring, I tried out several of the sentiments from the Thankful for Friends set to see which one I liked best and I actually decided to use two of them; I thought this balanced the design out the best and each sentiment fit snugly in place.

Finishing Touches for a Clean and Simple Floral Card

I trimmed the panel down to 4×5.25 inches and matted it to allow a thin border of black cardstock, then popped it up on foam tape onto an a2 card base made from 110lb Neenah.

I finished the design off with some of the gorgeous Fairy Rock embellishments by Trinity Stamps.

Be Gentle On Yourself

The day I created this card, I was feeling the most relaxed I have in weeks; I sat at my desk, singing along to Fleetwood Mac, and just coloured. It was wonderful. 💜

I hope that if you’re finding life too difficult right now, that you too can find a moment of peace doing something that you love for no other reason than because it brings you joy.

I hope you have a lovely, safe & happy week!

Stay crafty!
