One Layer, Clean & Simple, Doggy Design! | Make A Card with Tasha

posted in: Blog, Tasha 0

Hey Crafty People! It’s Tasha here, I’ve been away for some much needed R+R with my family and I’m back & raring to go with some more inspiration!
I’ve wanted to use these gorgeous Dachshunds and their scooter for a hot minute! I’m so glad I finally made time to and I ended up with this; one layer, clean & simple, doggy design! 🥳

One Layer Cards*…

I stamped each of the images I wanted to use from the Special Delivery stamp set by Catherine Pooler onto an a2 panel of Neenah 80lb. (I don’t like to have the back of my coloured panels be the inside of my card, as they generally look a bit messy! So when I say ‘one-layer’ I generally mean a card panel glued straight down onto a card base, which is what I did here 🙂 )

Minus The Masking…

Generally when stamping a single layer with multiple images, you would stamp the one closest to the front and then mask it with some form of masking tape/paper/stencil. You would then continue back through your scene, masking as you go. It can be a really time consuming exercise, and one I tend to avoid if I’m honest! 😂🙈

The most awesome thing about this scene is there was ZERO masking involved!! 🥳

I stamped the scooter first, then added the dogs, one at a time, followed by the stars and the sentiment. Nothing is sitting in front of anything else; so no masking! Yay!!!

Easy Copic Colouring…

I stamped using Memento Tuxedo Black as this is alcohol safe and I knew I would be using my Copics. I decided to really not worry too much about the colouring; using simple blends which I know are tried & true. I like to ease myself back into it after a bit of a break, so this was a great way to gently remind myself how to colour!

The colours I used are:

Reds: R05, R24, R27, R59

Cool Greys: C00, C1, C3, C5, C7

Blues: B000, B00, B34

Browns: E15, E25, E59

Warm Greys: W0, W1, W3, W5

Yellows: Y02, Y08, Y17

To accompany the clean & simple stamping, I chose a limited colour palette to use throughout.

Finishing Touches…

To give it a little something extra, I added some black Glaze gel pen to the dogs’ noses to give that true to life ‘wet’ look.

Then I added some white gel pen to give me some highlights!

I’ve recently taken to storing my card panels without a base, as this takes up SO MUCH less space! When I’m ready to send this one, I’ll add it to an a2 base made from Neenah 110lb.

That’s done!

I hope that you like the card, and as always I am so grateful for you spending this time with me!

I will have a cool Reel over on IG that shows how this card came together so don’t forget to check it out!

will be back next week for more inspiration!
