Hey Crafty People!! It’s Tasha and I’m back for my weekly Make A Card series. Full disclosure?…I kinda forgot last week! 🤦♀️ I did post my Reel over on Instagram but I don’t know how, I just forgot to post my blog post. Oooops!
You should definitely check out last week’s Reel because I made watercolour backgrounds using Catherine Pooler Reinkers, and I had another background left over, so I’m turning that one into today’s card.
I think I’ll call this one….Royally Blinging! (On account of my ink choices and the insane amount of bling I’ve added! 😉)
Stencilling over the watercolour wash…
I grabbed the Starstruck Stencil from Trinity Stamps because I wanted to add some extra interest and texture to my background. I wanted to keep it tone on tone, but still have the pattern really shine through so I used a darker tone of the same colour.
The background wash was made with Suede Shoes and Grape Crush, so I used Royal Treatment and Juniper Mist over my stencil. I applied the ink with my Trinity Blending Buddy brushes and concentrated the Purple shade towards the centre, allowing it to blend slowly into the deep Navy blue as the stars moved out.
To give even more interest, I spritzed the panel with a mixture of water & Perfect Pearls that I have in a little mini mister bottle; this gives a soft all over shimmer. Then I added some larger droplets of plain water from a Distress Sprayer; Catherine Pooler’s inks are water reactive, so this gives me a more distressed look.
I cut a large sentiment from Gold mirror cardstock and stacked it on top of two 110lb Neenah die cuts to give me some dimension; I really think this is one of the easiest ways to step up your card designs!
Once that was glued onto the card panel, I added a whole heap of bling! I don’t normally do this at all; usually I have certain ‘rules’ that I follow on where to put them. But today I just thought, let’s throw caution to the wind and really go wild! 😂🙈
I added three different types of embellishments, all by Trinity Stamps.
As always I am so grateful for you spending this time with me!
