Swinking with Date Night inks (and butterflies) slimline card by Jeni

How gorgeous are the Date Night inks by Catherine Pooler?! This card is inspired by Tasha’s card last week but I wanted to change it up. I swink a rainbow background and use the same colours to stamp the butterflies from Just Soar.

Swinking with CPD ink pads

I work on Neenah Solar White card trimmed to 4×9” and swink a rainbow background with the Date Night inks.  Starting with Do-Si-Do, Catching Rays and Chiffon, then In The Park and Cummerbund to finish the rainbow.

Holding the ink pad at an angle to the card and pulling lightly across the card.  I start from the middle of the card to have the sketchy lines at both ends of the card.

My ink pads are still quite juicy – I prefer the look of swinking with a drier ink pad to give more “sketchy” lines.

Stamping with Colour

I stamp the butterflies from Just Soar stamp set in the same ink colours as the background and die cut with the coordinating dies.

Before adhering the die-cut butterflies, I stamp the diamond trails – in the same Date Night ink colours, below where each butterfly will eventually go.

Adding a sentiment

I make a card base from Not Your Mama’s cardstock and stamp the sentiment on the inside with Midnight ink.  The sentiment reads “What good are wings without the courage to fly?”  The small solid butterflies are from the same stamp set.

I adhere the background to the card base, and then each butterfly with foam squares behind the edges of the wings and liquid glue on the bodies of the butterflies.

Scattering Sequins

Finally, I scatter a lot of the Crater Lake sequin mix across the front of the card. Not fussing too much with the placement of the sequins – as long as there is a good arrangement of sizes across the whole of the card.
